To The Lions
Baptism of Fire
Goodfellow CD

To The Lions’ hardcore ferocity will help you develop a hard-ass attitude—a confidence booster you don’t want to pass up.

Let’s face it, hardcore hasn’t progressed much over recent years. This is fine because I can’t get enough of the original classics that shook ears back in the early 80s...along with those early to mid 90s releases that perfectly molded metal with hardcore to form a chugging hard-edged sound. To The Lions will spark attention with their uncompromising sound that borrows from influential foot-stompers like Integrity, Threadbare, and Unbroken.

Baptism of Fire doesn’t break any new ground, but it is one rock-solid hardcore shot to the aural nerve. Featuring former members of respected outfits like Grade, Confine, and SeventyEightDays, To The Lions plays an old-school sound with surprisingly exciting results. The opener “Ride the Apocalypse” hits hard right away with fast thick crunchy rhythms and a closing breakdown that’s sure to get your legs and arms moving in a circular motion (Wax on, wax off!). The rest of Baptism of Fire never lacks the hardnosed aggression established on track one…and each track contains enough dynamic energy, barreling momentum, floor-punching breakdowns, and sing-alongs to keep the record flowing.

To The Lions flex their muscles while spitting venomous lyrics on their unyielding debut. Most hardcore releases nowadays are ordinary at best, but Baptism of Fire is an exception. This will please old-school fans of hardcore…it definitely grabbed this fan’s attention.
