The Beautiful Mistake
Light a Match, For I Deserve To Burn
The Militia Group CD
At times The Beautiful Mistake form flashbacks of early Keepsake (and I stress early, it seems The Beautiful Mistake is the band Keepsake should have evolved into), but overall The Beautiful Mistake play that exciting driving melodic rock with throaty screams boxing with heartfelt singing that all the kiddies are going crazy for nowadays—Light a Match is certainly better than most.
There's some really great songwriting on Light a Match, and though every song smoothly crashes into the next, overall, there isn't too much diversity from one track to the next, which is the one negative aspect of the album, but minus this blemish it's still an enjoyable listen. My favorite track is "Lancaster, PA," but then, I have a weakness for any tune about the Keystone State.
The graphic design work for Light a Match is splendid, in particular, integrating dazzling imagery with translucent paper that gives support in producing a dynamic insert worth slobbering over.bib please! So, hooray to Asterik Studio for a damn fine design job that matches perfectly with The Beautiful Mistakes' highly seasoned, insistent waves of pounding melodic rock and unyielding heaviness.
