The Drama Summer
Make A Move
Eulogy CD EP
Wait a minute. I’ve heard this before…
Make A Move will spark the attention of those who have Saves the Day’s I'm Sorry I'm Leaving tucked away in their record collection. For those of you youngsters who already bathe in the sounds of Simple Plan and Punchline (Steve Soboslai from Punchline produced this EP), then you probably already own this.
Youthful, poppy melodic punk-rock, The Drama Summer definitely wear their influences proudly on their sleeves, but to say they are a complete carbon copy would be to discredit these young whippersnappers. The songs might not stick as much as a wacky wall crawler, but the four songs on Make A Move are solid for a debut. The opener “We Make Rejection Look Beautiful” echoes Saves the Day (even the vocals share the same delivery as that of Chris Conley), while “Starting Over” contains the biggest melodic hooks on the EP.
Pretty decent upbeat bouncy punk-rock, Make A Move is full of energy. Unfortunately the dumb moniker might scare off ears, but Findlay, Ohio’s The Drama Summer can write some head-bobbing melodies. However, this debut might be the only release you hear by this band, because they have just recently called it quits.
