Saints Never Surrender
Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
Blood & Ink CD

Straight ahead hardcore that offers a little more than just fast chord progressions.

Seriously, how many more hardcore outfits can you add to your already overstuffed arsenal? For me, I’ve already closed the door. That potent sound has been beaten and rehashed continuously. However Indiana’s Saints Never Surrender surprises my ears with a blend of supercharged arm swinging hardcore and biting melody that contains very few moments of weakness.

Hope for the Best is emotionally charged, thickly layered, and is jammed-packed with enough anguish to make the most content individual clench their hands. Saints Never Surrender rolls through fast straight-forward hardcore to some nice crunchy breakdowns while always keeping the momentum moving. Plus the deep husky vocals nicely compliments the heaviness found on Hope for the Best. Saints Never Surrender seems to approach melody much like Shai Hulud, and this presence is what makes the full-length a fun listen.

Unfortunately bands like Saints Never Surrender get lost in the sea of hardcore nowadays. Too many bands, too little time to give them all a fair chance. Even though Hope for the Best won’t be a constant play in my stereo, I do enjoy it’s sharp melodic heaviness insulated with melody and fiery fervor.
