Jena Berlin
Quo Vadimus
Jump Start CD
"In these days of marketed screams it seems I'm a man without a voice."*
Been looking for the perfect blend of Boysetsfire and Hot Water Music? Jena Berlin is your band.
Some bands just ooze emotional passion. Jena Berlin is one of these groups and their honest love of punk rock and hardcore is felt wholeheartedly. I highly enjoyed the outfit's latest release Passion Waits as the Program Keeps Going, and Quo Vadimus doesn't disappoint. Misery from my 8-5 job has got me down, but albums like Quo Vadimus help pump me full of that energy that used to keep me going back in my teen years.
Jena Berlin expands their sound somewhat on Quo Vadimus, especially with tracks like "Island Living" and "The Dilemma" that has the band stepping off the beaten path and toying with their musical creativity. The trombone on "The Dilemma" was a nice surprise. And who doesn't like surprises?
Jena Berlin grabs your attention with a nice fusion of hard-edged rhythms and forceful vocals stitched with contemplative melodic emotion. If you spent your high school years listening to heavy doses of the aforementioned outfits, then Jena Berlin is a band you definitely need to seek out.
