Go It Alone / Blue Monday
Save Yourself A Lifetime
RivalrySplit CD EP

A lot of the straightforward, fist-pumping hardcore out there today bores me; fortunately, Go It Alone is one of few outfits that get my aural nerves jumping.

Go It Alone just released their debut, The Only Blood Between Us, and it's a dynamic hardcore spin that's highly enjoyable, and worth checking out. The three tracks that appear on this split are just as energizing. With undercurrents of smoldering melody and layered guitars, Go It Alone play fast and aggressive. Rich old-school influences uniting with a fresh fiery approach, this Vancouver group knows how to get the kiddies moving.

Blue Monday keeps the finger-pointing and group sing-alongs going.

Blue Monday definitely shares the same approach as Go It Alone. Barreling, thick hardcore with the ever moving chord-progressions, Blue Monday's raspy shouted vocals and insistent sharp-edge sound nicely finishes this split release off.

Each band covers a track by Reserve 34 (Go It Alone plays "Daylight" and Blue Monday plays "Rum Tum Tugger"). Three tracks each, six songs total with a combined time of eleven minutes; this brief EP is actually worth investing in.
