Crime In Stereo
Is Dead
Bridge Nine CD
Why haven’t I heard of these guys before? Man have I been missing out.
Yes! Hardcore-punk that’s not the typical garden variety your ears have come accustomed to hearing. Crime In Stereo plays a melodic sound that’s deeply rooted in hardcore, but it’s not as hard-edged as you would think. A little reverberation, a little wah-wah pedal action, and tons of intense energy that’s backed by heart-felt singing and not senseless yelling, Is Dead’s sound is anything but bland.
Now don’t be fooled by the album title, this outfit is still alive and playing so don’t miss your chance to see them rock it live when they come to your neck of the woods. Is Dead is a sonic-rock release that will have disgruntled ears rejoice. Crime In Stereo love to soothe with bright melodies especially on spine-tingling tracks like the opener “XXXX (The First 1000 Years of Solitude),” “Small Skeletal,” and the full-throttled “Nixon” that will make old fans of Samiam smile.
Is Dead is void of one song that’s stale or uninventive. Even slow dancers like “Orbiter” and the statically charged “Unfortunate Tourists” keep your interest alive. Hands down one of the best melodic hardcore releases this year (and if you know how damn picky I am, that’s saying a lot). I’ll be shelving my old Seaweed, Farside, and Samiam records for awhile; Crime In Stero’s Is Dead is my new favorite friend. You won’t find a more sincere melodic hardcore delivery.
