Broadway Calls
Self-Titled
State of Mind Recordings CD
Sure, I'm in the mood for some pop punk.
Broadway Calls' full-length contains some really catchy tunes, especially upbeat rockers like "Back to Oregon," "Escape From Capitol Hill," and "Classless Reunion." They definitely play it safe with radio friendly smoothies and oodles of "oh oh ohs."
It's a smooth and clean affair, which isn't a bad thing, but unfortunately the release becomes repetitive after a few tracks. You can hear similar sounds to that of Gameface, The Scaries, and even Alkaline Trio, but my mind keeps wandering while my ears try to keep focus through the fourteen songs. It's definitely a sound you've heard before. Broadway Calls doesn't offer anything new, but there are a few moments on the release that really grab your attention.
Not bad, but your ears have heard more dynamic pop punk releases.
