Released alongside their new full-length The Metapolitan, the five song The Fundamental Drift is a cool laidback release that fans will definitely want to check out.
Downloadable at iTunes and some other music download sites, the EP showcases simple acoustics, bubbly electronics, and charming vocals that leak out and slowly float around the listener. The blend of the warm acoustic guitar and digital electronics are well-matched. Blusom's melancholic output will cause you to reminisce, breathing life into old feelings and thoughts that have been hiding deep inside for some time.
"American Walkabout," "The Convincer," and "Astronaut," are all acoustic based tracks, while "Splendid Cantor" ventures into a more electronic territory that contains gut wrenching distorted screams counteracted with beautiful dual vocal harmonies. The closer, "I Will Send Banshees To Seduce You," is more of an exploration in digital beats and fuzzed-out guitar chords, minus vocals.
A nice sounding release, but for new fans, I would suggest checking out Blusom's two full-lengths first, however The Fundamental Drift is worth your downloading time.
