Bleeding Through
This Is Love, This Is Murderous
Trustkill CD

Thick, punishing, heavy, yet This Is Love suffers from repetitiveness.

Bleeding Through writes tough-as-Ents songs, filled with colossal hardcore chugs, spearing Swedish styled guitar riffs that never stop, guttural vocals that sound slightly muffled, and an undercurrent of keyboards and electronics that adds extra dimension, but unlike the potent ingredients, the end result is one tiring listen.

"City of Condemned," "Murder By Numbers," and "Love Lost In A Hail of Gunfire" are a few tracks that really stood out, filled with that diversity that's greatly needed throughout the rest of This Is Love. The one element that really needs a new approach is the keyboards floating under the heavy current of metal. It almost sounds like the same keys are played over and over, which becomes distracting.

Bleeding Through's album didn't hold my attention for long, though I'm sure that their live output is worth checking out. I've seen them on the one Hellfest DVD and I thought they were one of the livelier bands on the release. Still young, I have a feeling that Bleeding Through will eventually write songs that will challenge and enthrall listeners. For now, they're stumbling down a monotonous metal meets hardcore trail, looking for their own niche on the metal battlefield.
