Barricade
I Be Heard
Blackout! / Creep CD

“Unless you stand up and join the fight / There will never be an end in sight / Get the fuck off the fence and fight / Fight / Stand up for what is right / Stand up and join the fight.”*

Pennsylvania’s Barricade comes at you with straight-forward, uncompromising hardcore. There’s nothing groundbreaking on I Be Heard, but the band does show nice aggression musically and vocally.

Ziggy’s vocals are deep and guttural, but you can clearly understand the anti-fascist, self-empowering lyrics. Barricade’s hardcore delivery zips through fast upbeat tempos to some slower, moshable gang-vocal sing-alongs like “We’ve Had Enough.” Mostly straightforward, however I Be Heard does contain some nice spurts of melody as heard on “Be Heard” and “Til the End.” I Be Heard definitely gets the heart pumping.

Nothing new, but it’s a decent listen that’s not entirely insipid. I Be Heard is guaranteed to start a circle pit or a hardcore mosh aerobic class in your living room.
