A Wilhelm Scream
Ruiner
Nitro CD
Whoa! Ruiner maybe the best aggressive punk-rock release you hear this year. Trust me. You won't be fucking bored with this one.
Aggressive, intricate, and energetic, A Wilhelm Scream snares ears with technical guitar riffs, meaty bass plucks, thick upbeat melodic rhythms, and oodles of catchy-as-hell sing-a-longs. With three members helping out with vocals and with two guitarists, Ruiner is a dense and syrupy sounding record.
The only slow rocker on the release is "In Vino Veritas II," but it's far from insipid. With fourteen tracks you would think A Wilhelm Scream would eventually lose its steam by the end, but that's definitely not the case here. Every track is just as vibrant and electrifying as the next. The metallic guitar picks uniquely mesh well with the punchy melodic rock, and it feels so damn cool.
The high-energized Ruiner definitely contains a butt load of oomph. A Wilhelm Scream echoes the crisp 90s punk-rock of such bands like Seaweed, Samiam, and Face To Face, but with more aggression and a more forceful guitar riffing offense.
