A Trillion Barnacle Lapse
The Elemental Gearbot
Level Plane CD

A Trillion Barnacle Lapse is as enigmatic as their name hints.

The Elemental Gearbot is well crafted, especially the second track, "Faceless Cowboy," with its bare-boned rock peppered with electronic synth.

It seems more and more bands are incorporating keyboards and synthesizers into the mix nowadays, and ATBL is no exception. But they rely more on jagged rock than synthetic noises to carry the sound. With the guitar electrifying the neurons of the brain and the vocals sounding shouted and trapped under ice, ATBL's evocative and textured sounds make The Elemental Gearbot a really cool listen.

But be prepared to get rocked by this Providence-based band. The soft, synthesized sounds share the same space with sharp-toothed rock that's fighting for every bit of elbow room it can claim. From The Hidden Chord's The Captain and His Entourage to City Of Caterpillar's self-titled release to ATBL's The Elemental Gearbot, Level Plane deserves a pat on the back for consistently releasing innovative and creative releases.

"The Elemental Gearbot was intended to be listened to in its entirety for full understanding."*
