At the Throne of Judgment
The Arcanum Order
Rise CD

Faster! Faster! Faster!

How can you not like a band that’s influenced by the mighty At the Gates and Hammerfall? At the Throne of Judgment’s debut The Arcanum Order is a wicked sounding affair that will make any metal fan get their death growl on.

The thrashing metal riffs are tight knit, the vocals menacing as hell, and the pace throttled at manic speed (well most of the time at least). Now ATTOJ doesn’t reinvent the metal wheel, but they do succeed in creating extreme metal that’s pretty damn exciting. Heck, most of their lyrics center around ancient Egyptian and Greek mythology (Nile fans take notice). Plus The Arcanum Order is void of those unnecessary chugging mosh parts that are unfortunately becoming all too common in metal nowadays.

I love Eric Kemp’s vocals that switch back-and-forth between witchy Cradle of Filth-esque screams to those deep guttural bellows. The Arcanum Order is just so damn evil sounding that I can’t help but think if the Orcs that dwelled in the Mines of Moria listened to any kind of music, this would be the album that got them pumped up before a big battle. What makes this release easy to listen to is that it flows, there’s a continuous melodic push that keeps the momentum moving, the production is crisp and crystalline, and there’s almost a seamless transition from one track to the next. I’m finding it really hard to stop listening to The Arcanum Order. This album is a booming metal feast that will feed your hunger.
