Another Breath
Mill City
Rivalry CD

Faster! Faster! Faster!

Another Breath definitely plays fast hardcore. Fiery, passionate, and full of aggression, Another Breath doesn’t waste any time on their debut full-length Mill City.

Hats off to Rivalry Records. They’ve been consistent in releasing exciting hardcore albums (especially releases by one of my current favorites, Go It Alone). Nowadays, that’s not an easy task. The dynamic Mill City is no exception. Trust me, my old battered ears are very fussy about the music it digests. Mill City is a step above the majority of mediocrity that’s plaguing the hardcore scene.

Another Breath does a damn fine job of mixing things up, with variety and energetic motivation. The guitars stick out the most with ever-moving chord progressions that aren’t content on playing the same handful of chords over and over again. These guys can play and it shows. Wes Eisold (ex-American Nightmare front man) strains his imposing vocals through fifteen uncompromising tracks, and he’ll make you listen to every word: “The sun will rise again if missed today while dreaming / Missed chances only matter in memories / Sometimes the blisters on my feet serve as reminders of the ground below / That’s enough to keep me moving / Some nights stars will shine for you / Soak it in / If we could see how beautiful the world could be.”*

Another Breath’s commanding attitude, exciting hardcore and tight playing makes them standout. Mill City was recorded by Kurt Ballou (Converge), so you know the sound quality is superb for this kind of aggressive music. If you are looking for some new straight-forward hardcore that’s actually exciting and different from what you’re ears have been digesting, Mill City is your new hardcore diet to feast on.
