Ambry
Holding On By the Blindfolds We Hide Behind
The Death Scene CD

Yes! Now why can't every melodic-rock release sound this energetic?

Emotional melodic-rock that scrapes ears with thickly layered guitar weavings and ascending vocals, Ambry layout eleven of the catchiest rockers I've heard so far this year. While forging a rocked-out approach that's all their own, there's still a handful of punk-rock influences deeply embedded within Ambry's sound, like Taking Back Sunday, early Saves the Day, Thursday, and even a few gusts of Coheed and Cambria. Much of these comparisons can be attributed to the wide range of Christopher Thibault's vocals. Though there are many standout tracks on the release, however "Car Crash Love" seems to stick out the most with its spine-tingling guitar taps and driving force, and especially at the moment when Christopher let's out the line "choking on the right lines picking up the wrong signs," simply magical.

Holding On By the Blindfolds is a magnetically enticing release that's cutting rhythms sucks and holds the listener in, spin after spin. Though it doesn't happen often, those vocals do eventually boil and burst into full out shouts of desperation ("Memory or Tragedy" and "Dancing with My Confusion").

New Hampshire's Ambry definitely gets it right. Energetic, exciting, and vivid melodic punk-rock song structures, Holding On is worth checking out if you deeply indulged your mind around The Get Up Kids debut jangler Four Minute Mile some eight odd years ago (or live on a steady diet of the albums by the above mentioned outfits). Get this and be prepared to get rocked.
