All In
Nothing to Lose
Hand of Hope CD
Ready for an aural beatdown?
Alabama's All In loves god, poker, and thick mosh-friendly hardcore. Unfortunately, Nothing to Lose regurgitates a style that has literally been grounded and pounded over and over again.
All In enjoys playing those sluggish breakdowns. Chug, chug, chugalug. There are even short spurts of fast chord-progressions, especially in the semi-interesting "Sarcasm Killed the Rabies" and "It Starts With One Sleeve of Extraordinary Gentlesauce." The vocals, deep and guttural. The production is muddled and sub par. The lyrics, boring as hell: "Get on your knees and show some reverence / Get on your knees, and earn your respect / To the God that made you who you are / To the God that made you worth anything at all." No way dude.
This is generic hardcore ala Madball void of anything original. Plus, any band that has to tell the listener to move or "bounce" turns me off. You got to know when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em, and this is one release to throw away.
