3 Is the Magic Number
Hope Division CD
The opener “Sinner’s Algebra” perfectly embraces smooth melodic rockage with faint electronics and a hook that’s hard to detach your ears from. Ex-Further Seems Forever vocalist Jason Gleason and ex-Element 101 members Bella and Salvatore’s newest project ActionReaction explores a soft, easy on your ears approach that unfortunately doesn’t completely hold your mind’s attention for long.
3 Is the Magic Number isn’t entirely innovative but it does contain some interesting moments. The few tracks that made me hit the repeat button were the opener “Sinner’s Algebra,” the upbeat “The Exit Poll, Amen,” and the danceable “March On.” Sorry to say I was hitting next on most of the other tracks. The melodies were lingering more than they were moving forward, and they felt emotionless, bland, and void of that extra dynamic spark to give them extra time.
There are a few diamonds among the rough on 3 Is the Magic Number, but overall 3 is an unmemorable spin. As a fan of the member’s past projects I was expecting more attention-grabbing rock on this.
