Across Five Aprils
Living in the Moment
Indianola CD EP
Across Five Aprils' Living in the Moment electrifies with emotionally charged, driving melodic punk-rock and hardcore that ignites a spark akin to The Day the Sun Went Out era Boy Sets Fire.
Strong soaring vocals (with occasional deep throaty growls), energetic guitars, and strong drum beats and cymbal clashes, Across Five Aprils mixes it up enough to keep the tracks interesting, but also does a damn fine job of keeping the flow even through sporadic slow, crunchy breakdowns and double-prodding bass thumps. The acoustic track, "Through the Pane," features Covington, Georgia singer/songwriter Corey Crowder of Farewell To Arms. The song is simple and comforting, but might have been better suited at the end of the EP. However, the five tracks on Living in the Moment contain a boatload of heart and sweat to keep the disc constantly rotating in your stereo.
Track two, "Answers in the Eye," will have you turning up the volume well past the average pain level you ears can take. Trust me, it will be on every mix tape you make from now on, it's that good.
With a nice, crystalline production, Across Five Aprils belts out insistently melodic songs overflowing with dynamically rich guitars in addition to some powerful hardcore—Living in the Moment is definitely worth checking out.
