1090 Club
S.O.S.
Sidecho CD
Melodic indie-rock with piano and violin sucks me in every time.
Montana’s 1090 Club play a sound that’s approachable and charming. S.O.S. is a smooth listen, but the group throws a slew of cool elements into the mix making for a release that will endlessly be stuck on repeat in your stereo.
It’s a little tricky to pin down 1090 Club’s sound (which is a good thing), but at times they echo a cool blend of the melancholic In the Pines and the rock charm of the late Jejune. 1090 Club brightly radiates on songs that fully showcase the violin, piano, cool electronics, and the interaction of female and male vocals like the driving “Hooray” that will spark the attention of Dambuilders fans, the opener “Hello,” and the goose bump inducing “…It Starts With.”
I can’t get enough of that violin. S.O.S. is an adventurous and dynamic listen, chock-full of diversity, exciting songs, and great melodies. S.O.S. ebb and flow between soft mellow moments to aggressive guitars and ear-cutting violin strokes. 1090 Club’s rock explorations are downright refreshing and S.O.S. is an album you definitely need to digest if you’ve already lived on a steady diet of the aforementioned outfits.
